Mid Term Review of the Gemidiriya Community Development and Livelihood Improvement Project (CDLIP)

The SLBDC conducted a MTR of the Gemidiriya Project for the Gemidiriya CDLIP. The main objective of this study was to independently evaluate the overall project design and implementation status and process thereof. The aim was to assess the clarity and feasibility of the project objectives. This included a review of the current design and implementation arrangements, the assumptions upon which they were based, and an evaluation of possible alternative design options. The study involved a detailed analysis of the organizational structure and operational process adopted by the project in its implementation during the past two year period. The methodology adopted included a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods in order to study the impact of the project in-depth. The main quantitative instrument of the MTR was the household level survey. In addition a CBO questionnaire was also administered in order to capture data relating to village organizations. Qualitative tools with PRA exercises in a selective sub-sample of the villages was undertaken to complement the quantitative results and also to make in-depth understanding of certain social features possible.
