Training Seminar on Constitution Making ‑ Bangkok July / August 2006

The SLBDC was invited to the above seminar, which was organized by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), the LTNDP Regional Centre and the International Network for Constitutional Development (INCOD). The SLBDC is working closely with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in preparing submissions to the Advisory Committee appointed by HE the President to advise the All Party Conference on solutions to Sri Lanka's civil conflict. The Managing Director of the SLBDC, who is closely associated with the CCC initiative attended the Bangkok Seminar. All the participants at the seminar were from countries actively involved in constitutional building processes as a solution to conflict in their own countries. The state of the art materials made available and the interaction with participants from other countries and the high caliber resource persons from INCOD, from Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Kenya and Australia, provided participants with understanding, relevant tools and important perspectives to enable them to make a valuable contribution to their national processes. The seminar would be a useful input to the SLBDC's work with the CCC sub committee on Constitutional Reform.
